The water test stand was done to verify and validate our simulation for the genesis-2 engine. This test helped us gain hands-on hardware experience for our future engines and test stands.
Our shower-head injector was designed by the TCA team,we flowed water at different pressures through an orifice that fed into the injector plate in order to calculate the mass flow rate produced. This allowed us to verify our simulation data.
How we accomplished this
Our fluid systems team designed the piping and instrumentation diagram seen here to ensure we could safely and securely deliver the water at correct pressures to our injector.
Our structures team worked on designing and building the physical test stand. They ensured that the test stand was fixed to the ground and each component was placed properly.
Our Avionics and Control Systems team designed and soldered a custom PCB for data-logging and control of our test stand. Additionally they created a Graphical User Interface (GUI) to view live data and control the engine from a ground station.
