Elysium Engine

Elysium is a liquid rocket engine, the goal behind this engine is a MVP engine which RED can iterate on to grow our expertise. The choice of fuel and oxidizer play into this philosophy as they are readily available, non-cryogenic, and cheap.

Fuel: Ethanol

Oxidizer: Nitrous Oxide

Thrust: 300lbf

Chamber Pressure: 150psi
Fire Time: 3.5s

Elysium Engine

Designed started in April of 2024 after the Water Test Stand was completed. We spent the summer doing the preliminary designs. We then began to order parts and build the engine. Finally it was time to integrate the subsystems and test it.

On December 3rd, 2024, we finally got to see those beautiful mach diamonds and make university history.
